DALTON, GA, March 20, 2003 – The Carpet America Recovery Effort (CARE), the industry-led effort to reduce the flow of waste carpet to landfills, has announced its first annual conference, will be held on April 23-25, 2003 at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, in Sandestin, Florida. Registration is open to all interested parties. Information is available on the CARE website.
The CARE subcommittees and Board of Directors will be meeting on Wednesday, April 23. On Thursday, April 24, the conference opens to all meeting attendees. The conference runs from 8:30 am on Thursday until noon on Friday, April 25.
Tentative agenda items include: report by the Board of Directors on the status of the CARE initiative; highlights from CARE’s first annual report; CARE’s three-year operational plan; a presentation of the American Environmental Review documentary about CARE; forums for recycling entrepreneurs, carpet industry and government agencies; status of CARE sponsorship; update about “green” products and technologies; review of the CARE grant process; and announcement of CARE’s first grant award recipients.
Edmund VanKann, Executive Director of the German Recycling Organization will be a featured luncheon speaker on Thursday, April 24th, and the main dinner speaker that evening will be Deputy Secretary of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection Allan Bedwell.
