Dalton, GA (August 8, 2012) – Werner Braun, chairman of the board for the Carpet America Recovery Effort (CARE) has announced that Dr. Robert Peoples has been named Executive Director of CARE, the industry-led effort to divert carpet from landfills.
“Dr. Peoples’ experience in sustainability, the carpet industry, and the CARE organization itself makes him the ideal choice for CARE’s Executive Director. As Chairman of the CARE Board of Directors, I am delighted to welcome Bob back to CARE,” said Mr. Braun in announcing the hire.
Dr. Peoples is currently the Executive Director of the ACS Green Chemistry institute, serving in that position since 2008.. Peoples was CARE’s Executive Director from 2004-2008. Dr. Peoples also served as Director of Nylon Technology at Solutia from 1997-2003.
“It is with great anticipation that we welcome him back. The tasks of used carpet diversion and recovery still face our industry. Please join me in working with Bob to move those goals and our progress meaningfully forward”, said Brendan McSheehy, CARE’s Vice Chairman.
Bob has a B.S. in Chemistry and Mathematics from Montclair State University, a Master of Science degree in Physical Organic Chemistry from Purdue, and a Doctorate in Physical Organic Chemistry from Purdue.
Bob won CARE’s person of the year in 2003, and was one of CARE’s founding members in 2002.
