The Carpet America Recovery Effort (CARE) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, serving as the legislatively designated Carpet Stewardship Organization (CSO) for the California Carpet Stewardship Program. The purpose of the law (AB 2398) is to increase the diversion and recycling of carpet in the state of California.

Attention Manufacturers: Effective January 1, 2017, the carpet assessment changes from $0.20/sq. yd to $0.25/sq. yd. on all carpet sold and/or shipped into California.

Retailers must include the $0.25/sq. yd. Carpet Stewardship Assessment fee as an after-tax line item on the customer invoice starting January 1, 2017. Please alert your California retailers to this change.
