The second quarter of 2024 saw mixed results for the California Carpet Stewardship Program, with gross collections up, but recycled output and manufactured output down. Markets have been very difficult with two major sectors for post-consumer carpet materials down.
Sales in Q2 were 13.9 million square yards, down 2% vs. budget and down again 3% year over year. The current Five-Year Plan (2023-27) reflects a 32% reduction in sales over the life of the Plan.
Overall, 78% of total expenses were paid out in the form of subsides and 78% of all those subsidies were paid to California recyclers.
