A CARE capital improvement grant awarded in 2025 has supported an important initiative by Kian Green Up, LLC, at their processing and manufacturing facility in Anaheim. The company has installed new grant-funded pelletizing equipment, the first post-consumer carpet (PCC) pelletizing infrastructure in California. Pelletizing is an important value-adding step in advanced mechanical recycling, as carpet fibers are densified and made into pellets that are then incorporated into products for the automotive, transportation and construction industries.
Kian Green Up CEO Ali Mansour notes, “Kian Green Up was created with a vision to transform post-consumer carpet waste into valuable engineering materials and help build a true circular economy for plastics. With the support of CARE’s capital improvement grant, we were able to install California’s first pelletizing infrastructure dedicated to post-consumer carpet recycling. This investment allows us to convert recovered carpet fibers into high-quality pellets that can be used in durable applications such as automotive, appliances and construction products. Beyond improving material performance, this technology helps divert significant volumes of carpet waste from landfills, while creating new opportunities for sustainable manufacturing in California. We are proud to contribute to advancing recycling infrastructure and demonstrating the value that post-consumer materials can bring back into the supply chain.”
